Failed Audio Recordings / No Transcripts / Notes Generated


If your audio recording fails, or if no transcripts or notes are generated in NovoNote, there may be a technical issue preventing proper audio capture or processing. This guide will help you troubleshoot common problems and ensure your sessions are successfully transcribed into notes. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue and optimise NovoNote’s performance.



1. Refresh the Page

  • If the transcription fails to appear initially, refreshing the page often resolves the issue by generating a transcription from the same audio.

  • Since NovoNote does not save audio recordings, it's best to try this immediately after the session.


2. Use a Compatible Browser   

  • For best results, we recommend using NovoNote on Chrome (for MacBook) and Safari (for iPhones/iPads)



3. Use the "Upload Audio" feature (pre-record audio)

  • Record the session on a separate device (e.g., using your phone’s voice recorder or a dedicated recording device).
  • After the session, upload the audio file using the "Upload Audio" functionality in NovoNote to generate a transcription. This ensures you always have a copy of the audio.


Many users opt to record longer sessions using their phone recording apps on their devices, with the popular ones being Voice Memos (IOS) and Voice Recorder (Android). 



4. Trying different devices

  • If you're encountering issues on one device (e.g., iPad), try using a laptop (Chrome browser) instead to see if that helps with resolving.
